On May 22, 1880, Formosa Mutual Fire Insurance commenced operations.
Formosa Mutual, originally offered fire protection to the farming community of Bruce and Grey Counties. In 1980, the Company dropped the term "Fire" from its name as additional coverages such as Wind and Liability were now being offered to the consumer.
Formosa Mutual now provides insurance for Farm, Home, Business, Pleasurecraft and Auto in the communities that we serve.
Formosa Insurance, like the other 48 Farm Mutuals in Ontario, are members of the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association. The association provides us with Educational Seminars for all levels of personnel, as well as forms and suggested rating programs...
The community owes a great deal of gratitude to those pioneers who directed the officers of the Company during the early trying years. From little insurance seedlings planted in 1880, Formosa Insurance has grown to be an aggressive and competitive Insurance Company providing Insurance Services to this region of Ontario.
